Girls Camp Ideas?

Hey, all you girls and former young women. What is your most memorable girl's camp experience? I am trying to think of some wonderful, fun ideas for our girl's camp at the end of the month and I need your ideas. I also need ideas for cute handouts and sayings. Thank you, Have a great day, Annette

Hey Annette,
I just got done planning girls camp. Our theme was March Along Steadfast and Happy (M.A.S.H.) and we focused on the Armor of God, giving each ward a piece of the armor to be featured. My ward was the breastplate. We got green and pink camouflaged bandanas and shirts for the girls to lend a sense of unity. We also made up a march song that features the young women values, taught it to the girls before camp and they used it wherever they went at camp and since. I can send you the words if you'd like. I don't know if you guys do a skit at camp, but I wrote the skit for our ward if you want a copy, I can send it to you. I was in charge of the crafts and we had a large BE cut out in wood and then along the bottom of it we had vinyl (Steadfast & Immoveable) that the girls applied after the BE was painted. It was 2" thick so they could stand it on a desk or a shelf in their room at home. The other craft we had was a beaded bookmark with the scripture D&C 6:30 "March along, don't be scared. Be steadfast in making righteous decisions and you will be eternally happy with your choice!"

I think that the most memorable camp experiences were the simplest ones. Ones that built unity between the girls as well as the girls with the leaders. When the leaders let the girls see them at their "finest" in the morning or whatever, seeing them be human rather than just the "example" that they see at church, it helps them see themselves in those women and how they can grow up to be in the future. Hope all this helps.

One year we tied a couple of small quilts (some girls already knew how and we had to teach others). I think they were just made out of cheap fabric from walmart. On the last day we put everyone's name in a bowl and drew for who got to take home the quilts.

Tell Whit to send me an invite to her blog. My kids loved the pics of D-O-G.

Pouring my leaders stash of Coke out into the bushes, hanging bras on flag poles, but I do remember the dorky skits the most. I think they created bonding time as we prepared them, and performed them.

ok, ok...what is your theme? do you need handouts for camp? I don't remember getting handouts at camp........but that sounds fun. unless I look through my stuff I don' t remember much more than the food, the pranks, and the stupid skits. The Hikes of course were the best part. Oh, yeah. we always did a spiritual night w/the bishopbric I think...they had us follow a rope blindfolded and would tell us we are special--it went along with the values I believe and read a scripture....by the end we were all bawling--or we werent blindfolded and they eash had a flashlight and it was dark...I do remember the spiritual part...how it actually happened...?? not sure

Just tell Whit to add everyone. Hey my mom never checks the blogs, so she won't see this. She has been to girls camp a million and a half times, she should have some good ideas.
